i have a 96 powerstroke and was wondering if the engine is the same as the newer ones? i heard the newer ones had junk rods. but can i take my 96 motor and bolt it into a 99 and everything hooks up?

As far as I know you can use most of the hard parts but many accesories need switched. THe junk rods I believe are in the 01-03 engines
ok so basically the long blocks are interchangeable.. do you know if the transmissions from year to year are interchangeable?
the zf6 will bolt up in place of the zf5 and but the autos are computer controlled so i dont belive they will interchange i may be wrong u should have called me i would have told u this

Physically, the 99+ block is thicker. Everything will bolt up to the OBS block, but it's a lot of parts swappin'
