Edge insight and transmission temps

Is anyone running an Edge Insight and a transmission temp gauge? I am trying to find out how accurate the Edge is. Here is the story...

I am running a Hydra chip in a 25HP heavy tow setting pulling about 13,000 pounds. I know that the Hydra controls the trans shifts and torque converter lockup better and maybe that is why my transmission temps seem low. Pulling on a hot day, the trans temps barely got over 150 degrees on the highway, and that is with the stock cooler. When I got into the city and the transmission was constantly shifting, the temps got up to about 170 degrees. Except for the Hydra, the truck is a stock 1999 f250.

On another note, man these engines love to haul!!! The truck and 5th wheel are new to me and this is the first time pulling it. Could not be happier.:icon_ford:

In for answer too, but I would assume that the temperatures would be within a few degrees of each other.

I am interested as well. I have torque app and hit some high temps even with my new tru cool auxiliary cooler. When I got hot it was due to steep slow mountain roads (15mph for an extended time pulling 8000 on dirt road switchbacks) where there wasn't enough air flow to keep it cool. Temps were just fine at 55-60 regardless of the grade of pass.

I just used my edge insight this past weekend to monitor temps up a mountain grade. My tranny hit 250 towing 9000lbs. Under 30mph with stock cooler. It stayed in the 230-240 range if I put it in 2nd or 1st and kept the rpms up versus letting the truck decide to upshift and lug. Ambient air temp was mid 80's.

I noticed there are 2 transmission temp readings on the edge insight, one normal and one reads "old99" or something along those lines. I used the regular one. That reading was higher than the old99 reading.

Southwest350 - you were right. I had picked the wrong PID. It wasn't the one I had intended to select, but it is what I got. Changed the setting, everything reads much higher now. Therefore, my new 6.0 transmission cooler is on its way to me now.

Thanks for the input, it is greatly appreciated
