Do some more research on recon...
They are having quality issues and for the price, not worth it at all. I bought eBay led lights for everything and have them over a year. Last the same as recon but cost 1/3

Do you have a link to the lights you bought? I looked on ebay to buy all smoked led's for mirror's, tail lights,third break light and they all looked like they had cheap build quality which is why I was wanting recon's.

 

is that something i can fix easily or does this involve a weekend. I have an ESP on the truck and its going back to the dealer next week to get the front calipers looked at, should i have them look at it then?

It's not too bad. If you do it when engine is cool, it could be done in less than an hour. Use only a Motor Craft thermostat when you do it.

Eli, those taillights on your truck don't look very "smoked"

 

They are less smoked I agree, but the pic kinda made them even less...IDK

In real life they are more smoked then in my pic. But, not AS smoked as recon... they are still 1/3 of the priceoke

I bought all my LED items, other misc items for cheaper then recon tails LOL
Your the first person that noticed Adam... in real life, nobody notices.

Oh, and their is NO reason to change out your OEM mirror lights... They already are LED!
just buy some nightshade and put a thin layer over them. Or leave them like me for now!

 

Maybe the picture isn't doing them justice. When I picture smoked taillights, like what I some day want to put on my truck after I get done playing under the hood, I think of like dark almost black during the day so you can't even see the LEDs.

i am not saying the Recons would be better because i have no idea. I haven't really looked into it all that much. Maybe smoked red lenses would be better for me :dunno: Do you have any better pics?

With your color combination on your truck, I would say smoked red. I think it would be a great blend with those colors.

That's a good looking truck, is that a tailgate off a 6.4? Looks dam nice, what did that cost ya? I think I might do like you did, and just buy the cheaper tail lights. As far as the third brake light, and mirror lights, I might stick with recon on those because there not much more than any of the other ones you can get off ebay. Here are the ones I'm looking @

Like I said, I was amazed at your truck too, I love the look of it!

The tailgate is off a 6.4... anything will fit and look like that 2008+ (there are some that have the step that comes out of the tailgate too) so those get pricey quick... but also are more prone to theft. Mines the normal 08+ tailgate! I bought it for $100, painted it for another $100 and sold my old one for 100 LOL.... I came out pretty good
The third brake light that you posted i think is exactly what I have.
The only thing I don't like about the black tailights that you posted is the LED area is chrome.. so with the lights turned off in the daytime, you will see smoked sorround and CHROME square.:doh:

I have heard many cases of the recon mirror replacements not fitting flush with the mirror and sticking out 1/8", then causing weird sounds while driving cuz they dont fit good. I would keep OEM:nod:

Those are my favorite ones. I know they can be had for cheaper off of ebay, I just don't feel like searching right now. When I was looking I think I found them for 120 or 150, then I found out I had to do headgaskets. :doh: . They aren't too chrome and pretty smoked in the daylight.

Ya now that I think about it i'm not to crazy about the chrome either. How hard was it to do that harley grill conversion?

The grill.. 15 minutes!
5 screws on top and 5 clips on bottom.
Unscrew top screws, and take a flathead screwdriver and pry out lightly on the clips.
Bought the grill for about $100 off RockAuto Auto Parts

 

Put on an ICON 2.5" kit with 06/07 Factory 20's and 275/65/R20 Michelins. She drives like a new one now.
