LONG post but i'm trying to be as detailed as possible.

i've been dealing with this strange noise for about 2 weeks.

driving at speed 35-60mph and the road turns to the left, as i'm going through the turn I hear some strange rough, growling, whirling, grinding vibration/noise type thing.

some time it does it all of the time, sometimes it wont do it at all?

and it also seems to do it more while there is a little load on the engine, I can go around a corner giving it anywhere from 1/4-1/2 throttle(engine load on my torque pro is around 50) and it will do it, but the next turn i'll let off the gas and it wont make a peep. but other times it will?? (it is hard to tell where it is coming from because of the engine.......

I thought it was the unit-bearings but lifting the truck the wheel spins nice no friction in it. and I pulled the calipers too.
it had new ball-joints, tierods, draglink, shocks put on late 2013.

brakes are good too new pads and rotors put on early 2013. and the inside and outside surfaces look great.

I had someone turn the wheel back and forth for about 15 min while i sat under the truck looking of any free play with wheels on and off the ground(NONE)
looked at all the sway bars and bushings and they are original, but I cant see where there any sign of play, (worn paint, or movement while yanking on them)

i've bounced on the bumpers at all four corners,

I cant get the truck to make a peep while stopped...

all the parts put on the truck were motorcraft parts put on at the dealer(per the oasis report)

could it be the LS in the rearend? that is about the only think I havent physically checked. any other truck I've ever had when the LS went bad it bade more of a chattering noise.

anyhelp would be great, thank you in advance :)

i'll put that on the list of things to check tomorrow.
I know it doesnt make any extreme noises while turning the steering wheel to lock, while slowly moving, and the fluid level is good and clean.

i'll put my mud truck tire against the front tire tomorrow and try to turn the wheel and see if I can get the sound.

Could be the exhaust pipe hitting/riding on one of the trans cross member bolts near the frame on the passenger side. Boss's truck does this sometimes we just haven't fixed it yet. It usually only happens when turning. Probably has to do with how the down pipe is positioned since the rest of the exhaust follows its line. When throttle is applied it slightly torques the motor which in turn torques the downpipe and it hits frame. Long shot but just another idea to check into.

thats not a bad perceptive I would never of thought of that, and will look at it, it does have a 4" turbo back system, so it could have shifted and is now making contact somewhere,( i dont think this truck has ever seen gravel/rough roads before me-came out of cali.) and this would also explain why it does it more under engine load, and not freewheeling. added to the list.

Exactly what boss's truck has minus the muffler. Driving his truck and coming up to the job he was on, about a mile or so out he calls me and tells me to get my foot out of it. Told him I didn't know what he was talking about.

I had the same exact noises and in same manner yours is and it was my exhaust rubbing. Also check that the exhaust isn't rotted out somewhere. The rot could vibrate together when the truck body is slightly torqued when turning. Sounds crazy but I just diagnosed the issue on my buddy's 6.0 and found the rot behind the muffler. Put a piece of duct work and bunch of hose clamps on it until he can replace the system, noise gone!

UPDATE!!!!

so I just ran to the gas station and observed the noise more princely,

I think it is definitely something rubbing/vibrating, I was going around a left turn 20mph no throttle and had no noise, half way through the turn i eased into the throttle and almost immediately the noise started i let off as soon as i heard the sound and it stopped as soon as I let off the throttle again.

check exahust hangers they like to rot off, then vibrations start to happen.

ha forgot about that , happened on my 88 f250. good call Jordan.

I have a similar exhaust set up and the down pipe clamp was hitting the cross member under acceleration. I adjusted the clamp and the noise went away. I figured it out when I was changing my starter and saw the rub marks. I hope yours is as easy to fix.

Turned your truck into a 3 wheeler. sorry fordtrucknut had to answer that.

lol, yeah I checked the lug nuts, they were one of the first things, I too had the same thing happen to me, but i made it home. 20miles, I was 16 and didnt have a clue, I was lucky none of them broke, and none of the threads were messed up. man I miss that ole ford.. 1980 F100 custom with a 300, and a spooled 9"

ANOTHER UPDATE!!!!

so i went out and did some quick checks.

the exhaust is not hitting any cross members but it is really really close to the transtunnel/floor pan pinch weld seam, its not hitting while sitting there and I couldnt see any marks that it has been rubbing, but you never know, so I will be re-adjusting the exhaust.

another thing I noticed was the skid plate for my front bumper was touching the radiator support tube, the bumper is rubber style bed lined front and rear, and has been on for about a month, I cant really tell without removing the plate, but if it has been rubbing I could see it taking a few weeks to notice until it rubbed through the bed liner. I pulled it out from the support tube about a 1/4"

well I took the truck out after bending the skid plate after i found it was rubbing on the lower radiator support tube, sound was almost completely gone.

it still makes a little sound but it is different and you can clearly tell it is coming from up front, I think the bumper I have on is preventing the frame flex the truck is designed to have.

I also while it was on my mind re-positioned the exhaust, thanks for the tips to look at it. it is still pretty close to the cab but its a lot better.

thanks everyone that gave advice.
